Changes to State Pension

Parliament has agreed some significant changes to the eligibility to a British State Pensions which are likely to affect individuals seeking a British State Pension or have previously received a State Pension Forecast from HM Revenue & Customs.

You are entitled to claim the new State Pension if you are;

* a man born on or after 6 April 1951

* a woman born on or after 6 April 1953

The earliest you can get the new State Pension is when you reach state pensionable age, you can check this date by clicking the link: https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-age

If you have reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016, you will receive the State Pension based on the old rules.

To be eligible for the State Pension your eligibility is based on your National Insurance record which means you need at least 10 qualifying years to be eligible.
